Meet Kaylee...
Kaylee is the beautiful daughter of Laurie, who is friends with Lauren, a girl I went to college with, through the unique bond of their daughters have WHS. Lauren recently did a giveaway on her blog, Knowing Norrah, and Laurie purchased this blanket from CuteBabyGifts for Kaylee. Thank you, Laurie, for the follow-up pictures! This is pure proof of why I do what I do! Oh, and Laurie has a blog, Kisses4Kaylee! I am loving the blog world....

Treasury Tuesday
As I was scrolling through recently listed items on Etsy, trying to find inspiration for today's Treasury, I came across the adorable ladybug tutu and, alas, inspiration found! There won't be a "Featured Seller Friday" this week because I will be in Pennsylvania at a college friend's wedding. We are renting a big house on the Susquehanna River and spending three days laughing and catching up. I am beside myself in excitement. See you next week!

"You are my Sunshine"
For her first birthday, Sayla's theme was "You are my Sunshine" and it inspired me to make a blanket in honor of her fight this past year. Read more about their story HERE.
Here are pictures of the blanket:

Featured Seller Friday
Finally, it's Friday!! I don't have any plans for the weekend, but I am excited for it nonetheless. This week's featured seller is PiperBlue, whose necklace makes me *green* (get it, like the trees?) with envy! It is definitely going on my Christmas list this year.
Meet Theresa.....

What is your life story?
Art was a part of my life from the beginning. My mother was an art history major, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. I was always making anything and everything. I took any art class that I could possibly take, and used any materials that I could get my paws on. Oil pastels were my favorite by far, then photography. Jewelry and fashion was always fun. I can remember digging through a huge paper bag full of beads that my mother had brought home. I especially remember loving the freshwater pearls and anything made of Mother of Pearl. I also had a small obsession with sequins and intricate beaded purses, but then that was the 80's wasn't it?

Where do you get your inspiration from?
My main inspiration for the shop came when I got Piper, a cute little whippet puppy. I've loved dogs my whole life, and I would probably have hundreds if I could afford them. I originally wanted to start sewing martingale collars, which are a safety collar for sighthounds. I couldn't find any one selling collared leads that weren't made of generic materials. They all seemed to use boring prints, and let me tell you, Miss Piper is not boring. She needed something with some pop and pizazz, so I ventured down the sewing alley. Somehow, along the way of venturing through craft store after craft store, I was pulled into the jewelry world. It started with feathered hair pins, then wine markers, and boom, I was making earrings non stop. Before I knew it, I was constantly making jewelry, all because of a little, skinny dog

How did you find Etsy and when did you decide to open your shop?
About a year prior to this escapade, I had started thinking of doing some sort of business at home through the internet, as my husband and I were pondering the thought of starting a family. I wanted the option to stay at home if I wanted, so I was checking into plan B. I spent about 6 months researching, and then my father suddenly past. Things were put on hold for a while, but I soon needed to get back on the horse with my personal goals. Maybe that's what drove me even more. My dad always wanted me to go to business school, and now I wish I would have. The business's success is kind of bittersweet, as I really think he would have gotten a kick out of my lil' Etsy journey.

How would you describe your style?
My style is hard to label. The jewelry that I design is mainly inspired by nature. I love leaves, birds, branches, anything organic. I've always been a hippy at heart, and I especially love vintage and retro stuff. I remembering cruising the thrift stores in my teenage days, always looking for some old avocado greens, golds, and even some powder pinks and blues. It reminds me of my early times, and I love the music scene from that era. Music, dogs, old stuff with memories, and nature. There's the root of my creativity.

Back Bay Trail
Tucked behind our apartment complex is a "secret" extension of the famous Newport Beach Back Bay Trail. I say "secret" because, honestly, not many people ever go on it. Sometimes Brooklyn and I see one person, sometimes two, but usually no one. And because it's so "secret" I can let Brooklyn off her leash (a huge no-no for Animal Control) and she can run to her hearts content.

(our apartment complex from the trail)
On the mornings Brook and I head out on the trail, she knows as soon as I get my sneakers out of the closet. She then looks at me with her head cocked knowing it means one of two things. One, I am going to the gym and she goes back in her crate (booo) or two, we are going on the back bay trail (yay). As I put on my sneakers, I usually ask her "Do you want to go on the back bay trail?" and she runs back and forth between the door and myself in excitement. Bless her heart.
Brooklyn and I head out on the trail about 1-2 mornings per week to let her run her energy out before I head to work. Its honestly my favorite part of the day. The sun is just rising, the dew and fog still linger, the morning traffic hums near-by, and I can just pray and reflect while watching Brooklyn love life to the limits. It was on this trail, 9 months ago, that I made my New Years Resolution to approach life more like my dog does; each day is a new day to play, each person someone to play with and learn from, and happy is the dominant emotion. My dog has taught me so much about the valuable lessons of life.
I finally took my camera out on the trail this morning to capture some of the beauty.

(how can you not LOVE this face?)

Treasury Tuesday
- This week's treasury is inspired by the beautiful blue sky and the green leaves in the trees that I have been enjoying all day today on my day off. I love Tuesdays. Today I got to go to the dog park and watch the love of my life run amok while I sat under the blue sky surrounded by the gorgeous Laguna Beach mountains. There is nothing better than living in Southern California. Nothing.
